On Rotation
On Rotation is one of Dallas' best growler and tap rooms. They are located in Lakewood and specialize in small batch brewing. This means that they are always brewing something new and interesting. We visited them the first time last year, the day after their one year anniversary party and since then we have made it back several times and have yet to be disappointed.
Part of the reason that we love On Rotation so much is that they hit the bucket list of things we like to see included in our favorite spots -
Great Environment
No matter if you are looking for a quiet spot to grab a drink, a nice location to take a date, a place to gather with friends to catch up or even a place to play a few table games - On Rotation has the perfect environment for you. We have taken advantage of all of the scenarios listed above, and each time we have loved the experience. We love that there is enough open space for groups to gather, while still having plenty of space to sneak off to a private corner if that is your wish. Our preference of course is to be right in the center of things hanging out at the bar!
Great Beer
You might think that this is a given for one of our favorite taprooms, but On Rotation does a few things that other places don't. They have great flight options, and you are able to get small pour of any beer on the menu. This is only made better by the fact that the menu is constantly changing! In the many visits we have made, only a few of their regular house beers have been menu repeats. This makes every visit a potentially unique experience and for those of us that love to try all sorts of new things - On Rotation definitely fills that need.
Great People
Since the Dallas / Ft Worth Beer scene is mostly filled with amazing folks, this one seems to be another given - but the team at On Rotation makes the experience worth it. Not sure what beer you like or not sure what you try from the 40 taps? No problem - just ask the bartender and they will help you find what will be best for you. They want you to find what you like as much as you do and they will take the time learn what you like and help you explore the menu and learn a bit more about beer in the process.
Great Food
On Rotation doesn't serve food in the tap room, but they do support you bringing food with you. They are located directly next door to Cane Rosso and you are missing out if you don't take advantage of getting a to-go order to enjoy while you drink your beer.
Beer to Go!
One of the most discouraging things in Texas is visiting a place you love, but not being able to take any of the goodness with you when you go! Like others, we are hoping that these rules come to an end, but in the mean time - whenever we find a place that does growler fills we rejoice! On Rotation fills any size growler and also has a crowler system that allows you to take home a 32 oz can of anything on tap.
All in all, On Rotation is definitely one of our favorite spots in the Dallas area. We recommend that you add this one to your list of places you must visit. I can pretty much grantee that if you go once you will want to go back again and again!
